That Awkward Moment When a Rapper Says He Signed to TDE but Didn't...

Top Dawg's president had to clear this one up.

Signing to a major label, especially for the first time in a rising artist’s career, is naturally one of the most exciting announcements to make. However, just as a friendly reminder, it’s always best to make sure that the papers have actually been signed, sealed and delivered before taking the news to Twitter.

RetcH, a young rapper from New Jersey, recently learned this lesson the hard way when he prematurely posted on Twitter, sharing the news that he just signed with Top Dawg Entertainment.

In the photo he posted along with the announcement, the rapper is seen wearing a limited TDE chain around his neck. The chain, an indicator of the validity of his claim, was called out by none other than the label’s president, Dave Free.

Free reacted to the surprising news by politely scolding another member of the TDE roster, saying, “Stop letting people [wear] the TDE chain, homie. 2nd time these false stories hit the net.”

Looks like that clears that up. Talk about awkward.

Take a look at RetcH’s announcement-gone-awry in the tweets below.
