After surprising fans with a live stream of a brand-new visual album called Endless on Thursday night, Frank Ocean is back with even more new music — rumored to be part of a second album dropping this weekend — and a gripping visual to match.
Early Saturday morning, the singer released a new track and video called "Nikes," and put to rest any concerns that his new music wouldn't be worth the very long wait (four years, to be exact).
The clip is all things Ocean: provocative, sexy, loaded with symbolism and political messaging, and hard to unpack even after multiple viewings.
The video features an appearance by A$AP Rocky, holding a framed photograph of his late friend and collaborator A$AP Yams, and tributes to Pimp C and Trayvon Martin as Ocean sings, "That ni**a looked just like me."
There is also a very tall, very slender white woman in various states of nudity (including lying prone on the back of a horse), a glitter-covered booty and a rapping chihuahua.
Hopefully, we'll see more like this from Frank in the coming days. We've been hungry for it.
