In Formation: Judge Throws Out Lawsuit Against Beyoncé

A little victory for Queen Bey.

Published September 1, 2016

Remember earlier this summer when news of a lawsuit against Beyoncé’s Lemonade surfaced? You know, the one that claimed Bey ripped off another filmmaker and was totally bogus?

Turns out a judge agreed.

According to reports from TMZ, the lawsuit against Beyoncé and her Emmy-nominated project has been officially tossed.

The judge said that he was considering filmmaker Matthew Fulks’s argument but decided that the case was not worth pursuing and threw it out.

Specific details as to why the case was dismissed have yet to be shared.

Following the lawsuit being filed, Bey argued that her work was about a “proud Black woman” whereas Fulks’s film was about a “depressed white guy.”

While the visual works do have some similarities when compared side-by-side, a judge decided that they weren’t similar enough to follow through with a trial.

Another day, another small victory for Beyoncé.
