Jagged Edge's Kyle Norman Reportedly Arrested for Attempting to Stab His Son

Formal charges have yet to be pressed against the R&B singer.

According to Bossip, Jagged Edge’s Kyle Norman was arrested on Nov. 2 for attempting to stab his son after an altercation that took place in his family’s home. The report adds that he had to be restrained by a family member from beating his son as well.

Though an official arrest report exists from the night of the arrest, it only indicates that there was a probation violation instead of details regarding the incident. However, the responding officers who detained Norman allege that his wife had expressed feeling “unsafe” with him.

As reported by VIBE, Norman’s wife, Merrika, was awakened at about 5 a.m. after hearing her husband and his son fighting. She then called the police as a cousin who was present restrained Norman from attempting to beat his son, but he eventually was able to follow his son to the living room and punched a wall as he approached him.

Norman, who is currently facing a 15-month probation for the 2015 assault on his wife where he shoved an engagement ring down her throat, was interviewed by officers who responded to the incident but was uncooperative with the interview. Blood stains were reported to be throughout the home as well as a “strong odor” of alcohol on the singer’s breath. According to one officer, he responded to questions with, “Nobody is going to talk to you, you need to get out of my house.” The report alleges that blood stains were seen on Norman’s shirt as he was “cleaning up the area where the altercation took place.”

He claimed that the stains were from an earlier motorcycle incident and officers also reported that he would not allow his wife to speak with them. Norman’s lawyer Durante Partridge, however, expressed that there were “misrepresentations” filed in the report and that Norman is innocent of the allegations being brought upon him.

“At this point, there’s no formal charges, no disposition,” Bossip reports. “As far as we’re concerned, Mr. Norman is innocent of any wrongdoing.” Norman has since been released.

In January 2016, Norman and his wife sat down with Steve Harvey to discuss the previous domestic violence incident which placed him on the 15-month probation. Calling the assault an “out-of-body experience,” Norman was reportedly charged again in February with family violence and battery.
