By the looks of his latest sentiments, East Atlanta Santa, otherwise known as trap pioneer Gucci Mane, has just marked the Recording Academy on his naughty list for the holidays.
But jokingly so, we’d assume, since he tweeted his disappointment about the unreleased Return of East Atlanta Santa album — slated to be released on Dec. 16 — failing to make its way to a Grammy nomination.
It certainly takes some readjusting after time away in jail to get back into the groove of things, but it’s almost with complete certainty that Guwop understands that an album has to actually be released in order to be considered for a Grammy nomination. That didn’t stop him from a Twitter trolling session anyway.
In the four-tweet series, Mr. Zone 6 said he is sick (and we’d better take this seriously because he even used the sick-face emoji) that his forthcoming album was not considered by the Recording Academy for the 2017 Grammys. When a fan kindly reminded him that he hasn’t dropped the album, he succinctly replied, “That is not the point.”
He goes on to explain that the project is one that he’s been wanting to make “since he got out of Hell,” which we’ll decode as jail, and pre-dubs the project “a masterpiece.” Oh, and may he remind you that he also deserved that No. 1 spot on Complex's "Best Dressed Men of 2016" list.
Maybe petition for a Best Non-released Album category, Guwop?
