John Legend Reportedly Robbed at JFK Airport

He speaks up about the incident.

Earlier this afternoon, TMZ reported that John Legend had fallen victim to an unfortunate robbery while at JFK airport in New York City.

According to the original report, the beloved R&B singer's luggage was stolen, with the tally of missing items adding up to over $30,000. Luckily, the situation was a bit of a misunderstanding, one that Legend himself felt compelled to clear up.

Taking to Twitter, Legend spoke up on the matter, confirming that the story TMZ previously ran didn't detail the events accurately.

"This story is untrue," Legend responded, refuting claims he didn't have a prearranged limo in place to pick him up at the airport. "We use a trusted car service and they did not rob me. Our Delta greeter made a mistake and left a bag on the cart."

From there, the singer fully explained the situation, as well as confirmed that his missing items have since been returned to his rightful possession.

"The bag was taken because it was left unattended," he continued. "The airport police caught the person who took it (on video) and retrieved my bag."

Before returning to his normal Twitter programming and retweeting a post from Bernie Sanders, the singer did poke a bit of fun at the media outlet, playfully writing, "TMZ edited that story quickly!"

We're just glad that John Legend didn't have too much of a headache to deal with today while traveling and that he took the time to clear up the situation that he was not harmed or robbed.
