Get It From His Mama: Jennifer Hudson's Son Has an Amazing Voice

All in the family!

As the saying goes, the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow — but also the voices, too.

So after Grammy Award-winning soulstress Jennifer Hudson posted a video of her 7-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., crooning along to the piano, it’s safe to say we’ve got a marvelously bright future ahead of us.

In the video posted to J Hud’s Instagram, young David tries his vocals out on a classic ballad written well before his time, the 1984 “Hallelujah” record originally written by Leonard Cohen. He seems a bit nervous at first as he shies into the song, but eventually focuses in on coordinating with the piano. We even get the pleasure of a skillfully executed high note right before proud mama Hudson chimes in with praise as he laughs and high-fives the pianist.

“This is so precious to me, I can't even begin to describe how it melts my heart!” the Dreamgirls actress and vocalist wrote in the caption. “I did not want to shame my baby by shouting but.. look at him… he so serious and focused! A mother’s dream! My babies [sic] singing!”

With talent like that at such an early age, don’t be surprised to find the 7-year-old crooning solo in the next few years or possibly even beside the soulful vocal pipes of Ms. J Hud herself. It does run in the gene pool after all!

Watch Daniel’s “Hallelujah” rendition in the video below.
