Fabolous is one of the most underrated rappers of all-time and it’s finally time he gets the recognition he deserves.

Today (June 11) the Brooklyn emcee received a key to the borough he calls home. It all went down at the Celebrity Path on the grounds of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Paul Cain, Fab’s brother, Instagrammed the momentous occasion and captioned it with emotion.

“Brooklyn Honored My Brother Today. He Was Given The Key 2 The City,” he wrote. “He Came From The Projects, He Came From Nothing, He Came From The Bottom! 2 All The Youth, Let This Be Your Motivation. You Can Be SuccessFul 2, Just Work Hard & Stay Focused! 2 Say I'm Proud Is An Understatement!! I Love You Bro, Keep Winning!”

Others also congratulated the mixtape master, including Brooklyn borough President Eric L. Adams. Fab himself made remarks after receiving the award.

“I feel honored to be inducted into Brooklyn’s own Celebrity Path and receive a key to the city in June,” he said. “Along with the accolades and citation I was presented with last week from Borough President Eric L. Adams, I am grateful to be recognized by my hometown for my contributions and to receive the borough’s highest honors says, Fabolous.”

Visual artist Jean-Michel Basquiat also received the same distinction.
