Scarface Unleashes His Thoughts on the Tupac Biopic

As one of Pac’s close friends, here’s what he had to say.

Tupac Shakur’s long-awaited biopic arrived on his 46th birthday Friday (June 16), and it has even the most avid of his fans completely divided.

From raving reviews to scathing ones, the next person to offer up their opinion on the nearly two-and-a-half-hour-long movie is a good friend of the late West Coast legend, Scarface.

After his Chicago performance at the Classic Hip-Hop Lives event, the Houston-bred rap veteran sat down for a candid interview with Knowledge Beckom. Of course, Pac’s controversially reviewed biopic came up, and Scarface accordingly shared his distaste of the film.

“If MC Breed not in that movie, it ain’t no real Pac movie,” he said. “If The D.O.C. wasn’t mentioned in that movie, that’s not a real Pac movie to me.”

Calling out other names who Scarface felt deserved notable mention in the movie, such as Richie Rich and MC Eiht, he added that the most important and closest people to Pac were left out of the movie. Without the input of those who grew up with Pac and knew him best, he said, the movie didn’t do much justice to Pac’s legacy.

In a more serious turn of events, the former Geto Boys member got out of his seat and addressed the crowd directly about how he wants his own legacy portrayed after he’s gone.

“Listen, man — if a motherf**ker puts [an] album out on me when I’m dead, man, don’t buy that s**t,” he said over a roaring crowd. “If a motherf**ker try to shoot a movie on me and I’m dead, don’t go see that s**t, my n***a. Man, let me rest, man. I love Pac to death, man. But let that man rest, man!”

Face also pointed out the question of who would profit from Pac’s movie, anyway. With his mother Afeni Shakur’s passing and no children left behind, he reiterated that the movie’s profits wouldn’t go toward anyone meaningful, which is another reason he won’t be supporting the movie.

“20 years later, these n****s still sucking wood, man, cut that s**t out,” he concluded.
