Even with all of the tributes, commemorations and final words on the legacy of fallen Queens, New York, legend Prodigy, there’s still so much to be praised about the life, times and hip-hop career of the Mobb Deep legend.
His fellow Queens-native and rap mogul Nas reminded his Netherlands fans of that with a rendition of Mobb Deep’s highest-acclaimed smash hit, “Shook Ones.”
Among a sea of a WOO HAH! festival crowdgoers, Nas spit the bars over the infectious 1995 lead single. The Illmatic artist energized fans who rapped along to the track before he stopped them to send a shout to the heavens for Prodigy.
“Say, 'R-I-P!'” Nas incited the crowd. “Prodigy!”
In the video, the crowd chants to the late 42-year-old rap star’s honor with a life-size photo of him hung over the fans from the stage.
“We love you, Prodigy!” Nas concluded.
