At this point in his career, Kendrick Lamar can work with just about any producer he wants to. But if you ask K.Dot, ever since he became a student of the rap art form years ago, he’s known that the one legendary producer he wants to collab with is Swizz Beatz.

Swizz originally posted the video of Kendrick’s glowing remarks in order gets fans excited for his upcoming beat battle with Timbaland. But after watching the clip, the DAMN. artist’s comments stated a lot of truth. “Being a student of rap, when I first started rhyming, what I used to do is check the f**king credits,” Kendrick said. “This is something that I don’t, you know, the kids are doing today, but I’m going to explain to you. Checking the credits, this is how I know I wanna work with Swizz Beatz one day. I remember my favorite f**king beats – checking the credits – say Swizz Beatz on them.”

Although Kendrick has high hopes of working with Swizz in the future, the the producer and his 5-year-old son, Egypt Dean, were credited for mastering one track off of Kendrick’s 2016 project, untitled unmastered.

It looks like Swizz now has a leg up going into his beat battle, which hasn’t been scheduled just yet. But neither producer really needs a cosign because the credits speak for themselves. As for a Kendrick and Swizz collab, hopefully it will happen sooner than later. Check out what Kendrick had to say about Swizz Beatz here.
