Upon California’s rap oddity Tyler the Creator dropping off his fourth studio album, Scum F**k Flower Boy, the 26-year-old also dropped off lyrical hints regarding his sexuality that sent fans into hot debate.
He hadn’t chimed in on the buzz as he normally would via his social media playground. Now that the buzz has simmered down a bit, however, he took the confirmation of his bisexuality to an interview with host Know Wave on Koopz Tunes.
Touching on the topic of his music and demeanor reflecting a state of open-mindedness, Tyler used his relationship with his first boyfriend at 15-years-old to assure that he’s always been a free-thinker.
“Open-minded? I had a boyfriend when I was 15 in f**king Hawthorne, nigga,” he responded to Know Wave, speaking of his California upbringing. “If that’s not open-minded, I don’t know that the f**k that is.”
The “She” rapper didn’t delve much deeper into the comment afterward despite his frequent dips in controversial subject matters such as the N-word and the homophobic slur, “f**got.”
Elsewhere in the interview, he pays musical respects and admiration to sound genius Pharrell. As for who’s dominating his music library currently, he added, Atlanta’s trap rap star 2 Chainz is his favorite for now.
