Hip-Hop Heads Are Going Crazy Over This Black Thought And Method Man Cypher
As far as Method Man and Black Thought are concerned the art of the freestyle is very much still alive and well. And, as noted by their recent appearance on Sway in the Morning, the rappers' penchant for punchlines remains unshaken.
On Thursday (Oct. 5), the hip-hop heavyweights appeared on the Shade 45 radio show to promote their newest joint project ― a HBO series titled The Deuce. As respected wordsmiths, it didn't take long before both Meth and Black began exchanging bars. For five straight minutes, each emcee riddled off metaphors over a J.I.D production.
Kicking things off, the Wu-Tang Clan frontman unloaded a barrage of bars straight from his iPhone. Noting that his pre-written bars would possibly draw criticism, the rapper issued a disclaimer: "I might have to go up in my phone. Don't hate me for it."
Black effortlessly matched Meth's energy and delivered a flawless hot 16. At the end of the intense cypher, Sway shared his enthusiasm for the two going head-to-head with their rhymes, calling them “real emcees.”
While Black Thought has been keeping things quiet on the music front this year, aside from being a guest on Rapsody’s latest album, Method Man has been featured on a slew of different songs, including Snoop Dogg’s “Mount Kushmore."
