Tyrese Is Dropping A Rap Album...

The R&B crooner claims that his newest project will redefine the genre.

R&B singer and songwriter Tyrese is switching gears and taking his talents to hip-hop.

While the Los Angeles native is known for serenading the ladies with his textured vocals and gracing the silver screen, he claims his forthcoming project is set to redefine rap as we know it.

According to Tyrese, his forthcoming effort was inspired by none other than Jay Z. On Tuesday (Oct. 17), the Fast And The Furious star took to Instagram to explain how Hov's magnum opus 4:44  led him to dabble in rhyming. "Asked [sic] anybody I tagged about this album...... This new album is inspired by Jay-Z," Tyrese captioned a photo of himself, Jay, and RCA Records executive Mark Pitts.

"My motto is #IDentityTheftDoubleAlbum is Jay’s spirit, PAC’s Soul and Sonically Dre’s Ears...... I know your first instincts is to say GTFOH put me in the ( Singer and Actor box and throw away the key )...but you will see folks very very soon that this rap album is far from play play......." he continued.

Tyrese ended his post by claiming the album will change the course of the genre and would serve as an ode to the culture. While it's still unclear what the exact title of the project is, it can be assumed that Identity Theft will serve as the name for now.

In a separate post, the singer-turned-actor posted a clip of a song that appears to be from the upcoming project. While its uncertain who is featured on the song, Tyrese wrote, "BlackTy feat Future this is an early reference #Ghostwriter when will I drop – no one knows."

Tyrese also revealed he would be "pressing play" at the Roc Nation offices but said he wouldn't be signing a deal with the label. "Not interested in deal, already signed myself," he wrote.
