When it comes to belting out one of Usher’s hit verses, such as the one from 2004’s “Lover and Friends,” there’s one important piece of advice: don’t.

Well, that is if you’re going to make a mess of it right in front of Usher Raymond himself, which is exactly what happened at a Halloween celebration when one brave DJ took on the task.

Usher retweeted the moment captured in a clip where he and his longtime friend and superproducer Jermaine Dupri are jamming out in the Halloween spirit before the DJ spins the Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz classic.

Not only did the DJ reduce the instrumentals on the track to try out an acapella rendition of Usher’s song, but he got the lyrics totally wrong. And Dupri’s stupefied expression as he turns to Usher with eyes stretched wide open, followed by Usher’s confusion, confirmed it in the most hilarious of ways.

“Y’all ever have a moment where the DJ tries to sing your song in the club tho?” he tweeted beneath the clip, showing his reaction to the DJ’s failed attempt. “@jermainedupri wasn’t ready!!!”
