Fans Think Fire Music Is On The Way From The Weeknd Because Of His New Hairstyle

This new phase is about to be lit.

The Weeknd shocked fans back in 2016 when he chopped off his signature dreadlocks. But the good news is, it looks like the dread-headed Weeknd is making a comeback. The Xo singer debuted his new hairstyle on social media earlier this week, and fans seem to believe it’s a sign that an amazing new project is coming very soon.

OK, so there isn’t actually proof behind the hypothesis that The Weeknd only makes good music when he’s dreaded up. But fans made a pretty good argument for it on Twitter. They seem to believe the growing locks are connected to Weeknd’s recent break up with Selena Gomez. The couple split at the end of Oct. 2017, and although reports suggest the singer broke up with the former Disney star, fans still think he may be coping with heartbreak.

As we all know, The Weeknd is known for making music that focuses on the themes of love and drug use. Some even argue that singles off of his 2011 album, House of Balloons, and 2012’s Trilogy, which incorporated those topics into solemn ballads, was some of his best work.

Of course, we’re not hoping The Weeknd reverts to drug abuse, but it would be nice to hear another “Wicked Games” come out of this phase.
