Rap’s ruthless game of bar-eat-bar has pitted the most loyal, and sometimes conflicting, of fan bases against each other.
Hip-hop OG icons Jay-Z and Nas and their prodigious successors Drake and J. Cole now enter the internet’s hip-hop head battle grounds with one, simple question: hypothetically, who would make the better collabo album—Hov and Drizzy or Escobar and Cole?
For starters, we’ve seen at least two of the four pair up for sound genius with Hov and Cole’s “A Star Is Born” and “Mr. Nice Watch.” The Dreamville founder has proudly dubbed himself a student of the Illmatic emcee’s while fans have marked his Roc Nation position as one of Hov’s prodigy status. Drizzy, who follows in Lil Wayne’s Young Money footsteps, has taken his admiration for those who paved the way before him to a more permanent status than a musical one.
And while both men could match up beside pretty much any artist and deliver on-wax excellence, the question of which collaboration with a seasoned rap expert becomes an entirely different matter.
Alas, let the Hov and Drake versus Nas and Cole debate commence below.
why we puttin Jay with Drake anyway? Nas and Cole for certain— Kristy (@kymi_kym) February 21, 2018
Nas n Cole would be poetry. Hov n Drake would be fire too though. I'd be checking for the consciousness on Nas n Cole more though, Hov gets deep but I think a Drake collabo would just be the two of them flossing n stunting on each other.— KP Kev the Poet (@kevthepoet) February 21, 2018
I’m a bigger fan of jay and drake if I had to choose, but j Cole and nas would be a classic.— Art O. (@OX_SOTA) February 21, 2018
Both are bad combos - you need lyrics and good beat selection, and Drake would help Cole a lot - that could be a winning combo— THE Rap Pundit (@DubCityRoller) February 21, 2018
honestly i dont think either of these would be great. u couldnt have jay & drake bc u cant have jay rapping about fatherhood and investment with drake rapping about gucci and pussy, and the nas & cole album would be super sleepy imo— kieran (@KieranIve_) February 21, 2018
Drake/Jay egos would get in the way. Cole/Nas would have amazing chemistry and Cole has the ear that Nas never had.— "It's Twin Nem, ahh" (@drocthekid) February 21, 2018
Drake and Jay for the hits, Nas and Cole for the storytelling. https://t.co/FuAxC2yA0y— Debating Rap (@DebatingAlbums) February 21, 2018
Nas and cole would make a certified classic, drake and hov would sell a crazy number of records and catch a Grammy— Angel Whitson (@augy777) February 21, 2018
Nas hasnt dropped three albums better than vol. 2, blueprint and black album. Cole might have better quality albums than drake (depending on who you ask) but drake/jay have a proven chemistry that nas/cole dont have. Drake/jay would drop a better album g https://t.co/FJxW7n55Kr— Slim Jimmy Kudo (@DaveOrDean) February 21, 2018

Jay z and Drake would have more uptempo tunes. Nas and J.Cole would have the most mellow tunes. Depends what vibe you're going for. I'd say Jay and Drake https://t.co/towMSntaPr
This not even fair bruh(& i love Nas& Cole) but for this argument, a better "Album" Jay&Drake easy..plus u gotta let Cole produce the whole thing bc we know Nas' beat selection has been shaking baby. Overall better press run, star power all that considered: Jay& Drake easy.— KENNYKENNY757 (@KENNYKENNY757) February 21, 2018
