After an eight-year musical hiatus, R&B soulstress Sade is gracing 2018 with new music, and we all have Ava DuVernay and her upcoming Wrinkle in Time big screen venture to thank.
DuVernay dropped the news on Tuesday (February 20), explaining that it all came about from a brave move that turned out better than she expected.
“Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME,” she tweeted. “It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.”
Her record will join tracks from other iconic artists from all across the genre spectrum including hip-hop producer aficionado DJ Khaled, R&B singer Kehlani and alternative electropop star Sia. Considering that the soundtrack will make the first time the “Smooth Operator” vocalist graces us with new sound in nearly a decade, “Flower of the Universe” only peaks the magic of the sci-fi fantasy motion picture.
And the anticipation of a Sade homecoming is spiking so high that the internet is falling to their knees as well.

I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget.
