Here's How Monica Feels About A Brandy Collaboration After Their 20-Year Beef...

Well, this is half the battle.

The last time fans heard Brandy and Monica in the same sentence, the R&B songstresses unfortunately were not on the best of terms, which partially had to do with their divisive fan bases.

Monica has remained quiet on any controversy with her “The Boy Is Mine” duet partner since. But while dropping in with Essence, she shared something that brings back much hope to their severed relationship.

The Atlanta singer sat down for an intimate conversation with ESSENCE Now to dish on motherhood, the legacy of the late music icon Whitney Houston and the 20th anniversary of the landmarking “The Boy Is Mine” record with Brandy.

One gem she dropped is that the song was actually Brandy’s to begin with, and she was added as a feature. Despite popular opinion, her and Brandy also didn’t know each other nor had worked together prior to the 1998 smash R&B hit.

“Brandy is one of our greats from that entire era, so you take two girls that are complete opposites, you blend them together, and you make them a record,” she said.

When host Makho Ndlovu asked about a possible future collaboration with the Lady of Soul, Monica wasn’t opposed in the least bit.

“One thing about Brandy and I—I think there’s always room for us to work or do whatever we want to do or choose to do with each other,” she responded. “Always.”

Lucky for fans of both Monica and Brandy, that’s only half the battle. Now, it’s only a matter of getting the Full Moon songstress on board for that collaboration we’ve had our fingers crossed for.
