J. Cole just dropped his fifth solo studio album and first since 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only.
Fans have been wondering what the title KOD meant, and just hours before its release, the North Carolina MC gave us some context.
"If I turn on the TV right now, it's not gonna take long for there to be an advertisement that pops up that says, 'Are you feeling down? Have you been having lonely thoughts?'" a distorted male voice, some say is Cole’s, said in a posted clip. "And then they shove a pill in your face. The first response of any problems is medicate."
“Kids on Drugs” is one of the meanings. “King Overdosed” is another definition. "That's representing me, the times that I was, and am, afflicted by the same methods of escape," he explains in the clip with the final meaning being revealed as "Kill Our Demons." "That's the end goal, to face our s**t, realize that we have some shit going on inside. Everybody... because nobody's f*****g perfect.”
Of course Twitter is reacting to the brand new project. Most seem to be feeling it.

I think KOD is super dope. I think it's J. Cole's best album, and the first that I've fully enjoyed throughout. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯— bfred type beat (@bfred) April 20, 2018

Some Cole fans tried to explain that KOD is nothing new when it comes to the rapper.
J. Cole’s album sounds very J. Cole if you didn’t like him before you won’t like him now— May 2nd 😈♉️ (@TomSaidSo) April 20, 2018
And then there were those who just weren't feeling it...
J.Coles album isn’t all that. His message is cool but production kinda sucks. Just not my vibe.— 24/7 HipHop News (@BenjaminEnfield) April 20, 2018
