Fans of Florida rapper Smokepurpp and likely other millennial rap enthusiasts have had a listen to J. Cole’s sharply pensive K.O.D. album by now.

In fact, it appears they’ve listened all the way down to the last track, “1985,” which addresses some of Cole’s younger rap homies who have attempted to obtain clout by speaking low on his name. In response, they’ve resorted to lesser means that could only be expected of anti-Cole fan base: a “F**k J. Cole!” chant.

At the 20-year-old’s Buckhead Theatre concert in Atlanta on Friday (April 20), the crowd burst into the chant as shown in a clip obtained by DJ Akademiks. The Deadstar rapper egged them on as well, screaming, “F**k that n**ga!” into his mic as another person on stage popped up two middle fingers to join the fans.

Smokepurpp’s one-sided beef with the Dreamville idol first reared its head in a Montreality interview when he spoke to him and his millennial rap peers’ trolling tendencies for what they now consider “old school” rappers.

“Nowadays everything is kind of a troll,” he said. “So people do know that [Lil Pump’s ‘f**k J. Cole’ tweets] it’s trolling.”  

“Gucci Gang” regurgitator Lil Pump is another 21 and under rapper who joined the anti-J. Cole crowd with an unwarranted “F**k J. Cole” diss track. In the 33-year-old’s finale K.O.D. track, however, he takes the road less traveled in his address to young rappers by way of dialogue instead of a diss for those beefing up controversy with him.

“I heard one of em' diss me, I'm surprised/ I ain't trippin', listen good to my reply,” Cole spits. “Come here lil' man, let me talk with ya/ See if I can paint for you the large picture/ Congrats 'cause you made it out your mama's house/ I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house.”

While gentle in his approach at first, Cole still delivers a hard truth for the millennial rap generation in his bars, though.

“I must say, by your songs I'm unimpressed, hey/ But I love to see a Black man get paid,” he raps later on. “And plus, you havin' fun and I respect that/ But have you ever thought about your impact?/ These white kids love that you don't give a f**k/ 'Cause that's exactly what's expected when your skin black/ They wanna see you dab, they wanna see you pop a pill/ They wanna see you tatted from your face to your heels/ And somewhere deep down, f**k it, I gotta keep it real/ They wanna be black and think your song is how it feels.”
