The Internet Is At War Over Cardi B's Support Of Her Younger Sister's LGBTQ Pride Message

Back in March, Bronx femcee starlet Cardi B became a hot topic in the LGBTQ community upon the release of her assist on Rita Ora’s controversial lady-crushing “Girls” song: a four-woman, up-tempo pop single celebrating the freedom of open sexuality among, well…girls.

The song received slight pushback from the very community it set out to represent for its risky lyricism and implications, which Bardi addressed and clarified to her fans after some of the other artists featured on the song. In the official month of LBGT Pride, however, the Invasion of Privacy artist’s support of a message to the critics from her younger sister, Hennessy, is stirring up an even hotter debate on Twitter.

  1. Hennessy, who openly identifies as lesbian and is currently in committed relationship with her girlfriend, reminded everyone of the equitable treatment of the ‘B’ in LGBT celebration, especially as it relates to the subject matter of the “Girls” record
  2. After Bardi saluted the message, she checked a fan who apparently didn’t sit well with Hennessy’s lengthy declaration
  3. But before you knew it, more LGBTQ controversy had already broken out, and the debaters had some pretty vehement stances…
