Chance the Rapper popped the question to his longtime girlfriend and mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Kirsten Corley at a family 4th of July gathering on Wednesday.
The Chicago hip-hop artist got down on one knee in front of family and friends with the heartwarming proposal, asking Kirsten if she will “make [him] a man and be [his] wife.” Kirsten accepted his request for her hand in marriage as the couple’s young daughter ran to her parents to complete the beautiful moment.
But not everyone found the occasion so touching, and when a fan aired his sentiments out via Twitter, Chance clapped back with a reality check worth everyone’s round of applause.

One Twitter user, however, called his romantic gesture nothing more than 'extra hot smelly trash,' commenting on what he felt was Chance’s lack of effort for the proposal and deeming it overdue or, 'kinda f**k boyish,' as he put it
Chance first addressed the fan’s concerns publicly by responding to the tweet and let him know it was probably best to save his personal opinion
After the user screenshotted the tweet and proceeded to post it for the timeline, Chance also gave the tweeter a lengthy read in his DMs, simply reminding him that his personal life is not up for fan’s review. Chance is all for freedom of speech, but reminds the fan that, ‘You can say whatever u want but I can also tell u to get off my d**k if I see it'
