If OVO Sound champ Drake running beside Atlanta’s trap music trio stars Migos for the “Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour” wasn’t confirmation enough that he’s spreading major love to his industry mates for 2018, his stage guest on Tuesday night (August 21) certainly was. From a Nicki Minaj fan standpoint, he might not be extending that same endearment to his label mates, though.
Drizzy celebrated his Toronto homecoming at the Scotiabank Arena with a “SICKO” performance by none other than GOOD Music all-star and ASTROWORLD rap architect Travis Scott. The men performed the “SICKO” single along with another fan-favorite hit, “goosebumps,” for Drizzy’s hometown fans before the Scorpion rapper took his hat off to Travy with a special (and for some, shady) congratulations.
“Make some noise for Travis Scott,” Drake boasted to the full house of roaring fans. “Number one album in the world. Make some noise for him one time.”
To the naked ear, the salute sounds innocent. But for those privy to Nicki’s brush with La Flame, ignited by sales controversy and unfolding in a 2018 MTV VMAs jab (which Drizzy’s salute now echoes), it’s so much more. Especially, when taking into account Nicki’s “H** N**ga of the Week” award for Travy, and her mention of the “In My Feelings” rapper during her music industry favoritism exposé.
