Amid the tragic Thousand Oaks mass shooting, California natives have also been dealing with rampant wildfires sweeping through the coast. Countless families have been displaced and forced to evacuate immediately. Kim Kardashian revealed she was one of many who had only “one hour to pack up and evacuate.” Now, Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash took to social media with his own devastating reflection. In the video below, he’s driving through the flames as his wife, Raquel, asked for prayers that “they’ll have a house to come home to.” In the caption, he penned, “[they] got what was important and tried to bounce...there wasn’t much time.”
In a follow-up post, the New York native showed a picture of his home, in tact. “At the end of the day we did what we had to do and got outta there and I just knew the house burned down cause we saw the flames,” he began. However, despite the impending calamity he presumed was coming, Dame “was ok with it because everything I love was safe.” However, he revealed that every home in his neighborhood burned down except his. While this is a miracle for the Dash family, many others can’t share the same joys. According to reports, the wildfires are being labeled as “one of the most destructive on record in the state of California,” with over 6,400 homes being burned down and a death toll of 31 and counting.
Our prayers go out to all the families being affected and the first responders. If you’d like to lend a hand to those in need, here’s where you can find information to help.
