LL Cool J Finally Addresses "Beef" With MC Hammer For New IGTV Series

"I lit him up ‘cause that’s what I was supposed to do."

Certified hip-hop legend LL Cool J is stepping back into his musical roots. The Queens native launched Rock The Bells Radio back in March an exclusive venture with SiriusXM. Now, he’s diving headfirst into the digital world with “Rock The Bells Q&A with LL COOL J,” a fan-driven interview series on Instagram’s newest subsidiary, IGTV. Each episode is inspired by LL’s classic hip-hop channel that some consider the bridge where generations of Hip-Hop meets everyone’s love of the culture.

In the series’ teaser from its first episode, the “Doin’ It” emcee answered the dated question about his alleged beef with Oakland-bred emcee MC Hammer.

  1. "I didn't have a beef with MC Hammer. [He] had a beef with me," he laughingly said

“He knows I love him… That’s my man. I think he just said my name in a record for attention. He did what he had to do. I never had any problems, personally, with Hammer. I lit him up ‘cause that’s what I was supposed to do,” LL chuckled. “But I never had any problems with him at all. In terms of battles, I've had so many battles. So many artists have come at me from different directions. It just comes with the territory. That's the fun part," he shrugged with a smile.

If you're a true fan of hip-hop, this series is definitely for you. “Rock The Bells Q&A with LL COOL J” airs tomorrow, Tuesday Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. PST on @LLCoolJ’s IGTV. For now, check out the full teaser below.
