Meek Mill's Latest Statements On Drake And Nicki Minaj Deserve A Standing Ovation
Philly emcee Meek Mill is remaining true to his “1942 Flow” words when it comes to his former rap megastar girlfriend Nicki Minaj.
His demand to leave her name out of his interviews holds true for another Young Money rivalry-turned-reconciliation, too: Drake. And what better place to reinforce those terms than on the world’s most dangerous morning show The Breakfast Club?
DJ Envy triggered the conversation after asking if Nicki ever tried to squash his beef
In conversation with the trio hosts of the radio show, Meek simply replied, “No.” Charlamagne Tha God followed up, stating that he’s “gotta be tired of hearing those two names in interviews.” And he was right, as Meek explained that at one point, he even hit the kill switch on radio interviews because of the repetitive influx of questions about the Young Money all-stars during his press runs.
‘I’m not following the standard thing you gotta do to like sell music and like talk about the same people,’ he elaborated…
“Meek Mill says this about Drake, Meek Mill said this about Tekashi, Meek Mill said this about Nicki.” On the contrary, the Championships heavyweight added that while headlines incorrectly convey that he’s making statements on these individuals, the case is actually that he’s being asked about them and responding. It all gets to be not only overwhelming for him, but intrusive in his personal life.
‘Yo, this sh** is f**king with me at nighttime,’ he added
“I’m going to sleep with Nicki and Drake on my mind… It’s in my real life now.” The conversation also brought Meek back to a situation where he interviewed with 93.9’s DJ Quik Silva. He points out that he’s cool with him, but by the time he got to this particular radio interview, he was already burned out from answering Drake and Nicki questions. So burned out, in fact, that he’ll now reach out to his Atlantic label home himself and shut down interviews when it becomes too much.
