Mary J. Blige Made A Post-Divorce Statement That Deserves A Round Of Applause

"I’m not taking care of any more men!”

Published February 21, 2019

Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige is a free woman after her highly publicized and toiling divorce from former husband Kendu Isaacs.

But now that the legal split is finalized, she’s in no rush to hop back on the market. Especially if the men there aren’t meeting her new-and-improved requirements that she presumably let slide in her last relationship, as told to DJ Ace on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

  1. In the conversation, Ace asked what it would take for some lucky man’s shot at a chance with Ms. Blige

“Well, he has to have more money than me, that’s for sure,” she responded, “because I’m not taking care of any more men!” Blige added it’s not a man she’s in love with right now, but rather her freedom as a single woman. “I’m in a great place,” she said. “I’m not in a rush!” And for anyone sliding in her DMs, you might want to resort to plan B to shoot your shot considering that she’s not checking for those either. “I don’t even go to my DMs,” she said, “so stop sending sh** to my DMS!”

  2. We’re overjoyed to see Mary in such a genuinely happy place now as well following the divorce from Isaacs after 12 years. A spousal support tug-of-war between her and her ex-husband turned the divorce somewhat bitter in the past few years since she filed for the separation in 2016. Now, Mary is getting back to her groove—but on her own terms.
