After dropping his ravingly-reviewed Championships album at the close of 2018, Philly’s star emcee and Dreamchasers boss Meek Mill is already back cooking up new tunes for the new year.
The “Going Bad” rapper is also spending more digital quality time with fans while taking to Twitter for frequent #AskMeek sessions and dropping off 280-character bars for fans to decipher. But it wasn’t until a snippet of a new track previewed in Houston Rockets NBA baller James Harden’s Instagram Stories that fans began to press Meek about a certain unreleased track with certain bars they believe may be addressed to a certain ex-girlfriend: Young Money first lady and femcee megastar, Nicki Minaj.
“This sh** beyond me, you was supposed to be my Beyoncé, now you this n**ga fianceé?” Meek says in what appears to be an intro to the record. “What? F**k you mean you feel a connection? He listen to you, what? This ni**a wear Balenciaga with boot-cut jeans / What the f**k you losing your mind? / Ayo, call my f**king phone back, yo.”
From there, Meek glides into the beat with bars about his green eye for the new man in the life of an unnamed former lover. “Everytime you post this ni**a wanna smoke this ni**a / We just broke up last year, how you know this ni**a? / You was cheating on me or sleeping on me?” he raps.
Fans pointed to the alleged engagement between Nicki and her new man, Kenneth Petty, as the subject of Meek’s lyrical scorn:
May he remind you, he also tweeted, he’s “like on [his] [sixth] girl in the last two years,” Meek tweeted, “Let me live.” Not to mention, fans should hear the full record before jumping to such rash conclusions.
Looks like they’ll be waiting on the edge of their seats for this Meek Milly track in the meantime.
