Meek Mill said he’d look out for his hometown and once again he’s fulfilling that promise.
On Saturday (August 17), the Philly native attended the unveiling of a renovated basketball court that he helped fund in partnership with several different organizations, including PUMA, Roc Nation and the Philadelphia Parks & Rec Department.
The court is in East Fairmount Park where Meek grew up in North Philadelphia and is painted blue, donning the rapper’s Dream Chaser’s logo and inspirational quotes throughout the sidelines. Kids and adults showed out to the unveiling as the community came together for the event.
Mill thanked everybody for showing up, saying: “Let’s keep this short. It’s hot out here.” Dressed in a white Puma shirt, white shorts, and orange sneakers, he subsequently cut the ceremonial ribbon.
A spokesperson for the event said Meek’s project began when he expressed desire to give back to his community. He then reportedly reached out to Puma, with whom he has a business relationship.
Congrats to Meek Mill on his latest philanthropic endeavor.
