As multiple states have gone under lockdown due to COVID-19, the U.S. government has been urging people to practice social-distancing to prevent transferring of the respiratory illness.
Unfortunately, some people haven’t been taking self-quarantine seriously, but on Wednesday (March 18), R&B songstress JoJo served up a banger to remind us all the importance of following the CDC’s recommendations.
She posted a snippet to a remix of her 2004 classic hit, “Leave (Get Out),” aptly re-titled “Chill (Stay In)” on TikTok. Instead of telling her soon-to-be ex to get away from her, JoJo stressed the importance of avoiding public spaces and staying indoors.
“I never thought corona could be such a nasty b**ch, but now that she's here, boy, all I want, is for you to use common sense. Stay in! Right now! Do it for humanity! I'm deada**! About that, but we will survive,” she sings. “Tell me why you're acting so confused, when the CDC laid it out for you. Come on I know you're not dumb. To go behind my back and hit the bar, shows how immature you really are. Keep exposure to a minimum!”
The video has already amassed two million views on the popular video sharing platform and made it onto TikTok’s #happyathome playlist.
JoJo is the latest celebrity to use her platform to spread awareness on how to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Disco legend Gloria Gaynor repurposed her immortal hit “I Will Survive” into a PSA encouraging people to wash their heads. Forever POTUS Barack Obama also shared some precautions that people can take to safeguard their health and keep their communities away from the risks of being exposed to coronavirus. Even Bronx rap star Cardi B had a piece to say about the coronavirus, which has since been turned into a viral remix that is taking over iTunes.
In case people were in need of a reminder, JoJo uploaded a full version of “Chill (Stay In)” to her YouTube channel. Listen to the remix below:
