Hip-hop legend Big Daddy Kane took to his Instagram page Wednesday night (April 22), where he shared a touching tribute dedicated to countless individuals who are at the frontlines of the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. “I know that we are dealing with some tough times. Weird times. Different times,” Kane began in the minute-long clip. “But we can make it through this. We can definitely make it through this as long as we stick together, stay strong and stay smart.”

“I know that many of y’all have lost a loved one,” Kane acknowledged. “I’d even like to say rest in peace to my good friend, DJ Lance. Rest in peace to my minister, Abdul Hafeez Muhammad.”

  2. The MC behind the rap classics “Set It Off” and “Smooth Operator” went on to express his appreciation for the first responders who have been at the forefront of dealing with those most impacted by the pandemic.

“I also want to acknowledge all the people on the frontlines [that've] been doing a great job through this pandemic,” he said. “I want to acknowledge all the other funeral directors, nurses, doctors, medical technicians, morticians, coroners, firefighters, ambulance drivers, paramedics — the list goes on and on but I salute you all that’s standing on the frontline.”
