Why Ne-Yo Wants A Verzuz Battle With Usher And Justin Timberlake

The singer-songwriter and Nick Cannon debated the matchup.

With all of the social media excitement around the IG Live faceoffs, Ne-Yo is now entering the conversation saying he would like to see a Verzuz battle between Usher and Justin Timberlake.

  • The producer, singer, and songwriter recently chatted with Nick Cannon on his eponymous Power 106 radio show, Nick Cannon Mornings, from quarantine.

Naturally, Ne-Yo’s recent IG battle against singer-songwriter Johnta Austin came up in the conversation as did Erykah Badu and Jill Scott’s hotly anticipated match up that will take place on Saturday (May 9).

  • While discussing the “Queens of Neo-Soul” forthcoming battle, Nick asked Ne-Yo who he’d like to see hop on Instagram Live next. Ne-Yo shared that he would like to see more artists putting their catalogs up each other’s, suggesting a face-off between Usher and Justin Timberlake.

Nick was intrigued by the potential match-up, although he had some thoughts on whether Justin would be able to stand toe-to-toe with Usher. “I think Usher gon’ body him, just hit-for-hit wise,” he expressed. “If [Justin] can bring N’SYNC in then, that’s different...but if it’s just hit-for-hit...I mean, Usher got more albums.”

While Ne-Yo didn’t disagree with the assessment, he wasn’t so quick to declare Usher the victor. “I don’t know. I feel it could be an entertaining battle,” he told Nick.
