2 Chainz, T.I., And More React To Three Additional Officer's Arrests In George Floyd's Killing

The charges come a week after nationwide protests and demonstrations.

A week after protestors took to the streets of cities throughout the nation demanding justice for George Floyd, all four former officers involved in his death have now been charged.

  • On Wednesday (June 3), Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison brought charges against three other officers involved with Floyd’s death. All three men, J Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao and Thomas Lane, were arrested and charged with aiding and abetting murder. Their bail has been set at $1 million, according to CNN. Charges against the first officer arrested, Derek Chauvin, were also upgraded from third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter to second-degree murder.

  • In response to the news, a number of artists in the hip-hop community took to social media to weigh in with their thoughts on the matter.

“Finally…… Now Convict,” Ice T wrote on Twitter in response to a tweet from Benjamin Crump, an lawy for the Floyd family, relaying news of the charges.

The-Dream sent his blessings along with a wish for peace to the Floyd family.

“Everyone is rejoicing as they should. Peace and blessings to the #GeorgeFlyod family,” he tweeted.

“Beyond the meaningfulness of today, let us not take solace in the fact that this will not stop immediately,” the R&B singer  continued. “It’s a train of hate. There is no lever that completely stops the weight of that.”
