Kanye West Walks On Water During Sunday Service In Atlanta
Kanye West’s weekly Sunday Service returned for its latest iteration over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 6), at the Pinewood Forest in Fayetteville, Georgia.
The rapper was joined by famed pastor and televangelist Joel Osteen. However, one moment from the event quickly went viral for the wrong reasons. Kanye has been upping the visuals of his evangelical experiences, as evidenced by last year’s Sheck Wes-starring Nebuchadnezzar opera. For his latest evangelical experience, Kanye brought one of the Bible’s most famous stories to life. After Osteen retold the story of Jesus walking on water Kanye and his children are seen walking across the pond on foot to join his choir in the middle of the water.
The spectacle was likely achieved by placing a transparent platform just beneath the surface of the water, but the move did not go over well online. Kanye has been facing criticism since the video of his latest stunt surfaced. Some people found it offensive with others accusing Kanye of not taking the Word seriously.
“So Joel Olsteen and Kanye West “walking on water” isn’t blasphemy?” one person expressed via Twitter. The sentiment was shared by many.
A second person chimed in, “So Joel Osteen and Kanye West decides they’re gonna walk on water ? Lmao these people don’t take God's words seriously and it’s embarrassing.”
This comes after Kanye recently sat down with Nick Cannon for a recent episode of Cannon’s Class where he revealed that he spent $50 million on his Sunday Service productions in 2019.
