SHORT CUTS: Moore Discusses "Criminal' Co-Stars Departure

Posted Sept. 14, 2007 -- As the third season of "Criminal Minds" approaches, Shemar Moore shares how he really felt about co-star Mandy Patinkin's abrupt departure.

"I love Mandy, and I really don't just say that," Moore reportedly told the New York Daily News. "He's a sweet guy, a good guy and talented. I'm going to miss him. I already do. "But at the end of the day, I don't like how he went about leaving. I don't think he meant it as a personal vendetta against any of us, and I don't think he meant to abandon us. I just think he really felt for his life; this is what he needed."

In July, Patinkin was MIA during the cast's first table read. Next, the actor's lawyers requested he be released from his contract. Moore, who plays FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan, says he hasn't spoken with Patinkin since he quit. Although, Patinkin did return to the set to film solo scenes to close up the story line of his character, FBI Special Agent Jason Gideon.

"He brought a lot to the table, but it wasn't his show. ... The show will go on," Moore added, noting the casting of Patinkin’s replacement, Joe Mantegna.
