Fans of Tyler Perry productions are looking forward to his newest movie, Madea’s Big Happy Family, which is in theaters Friday, April 22. During an online chat promoting the film, the writer and producer let it slip that he has a new show in the works. Get ready for For Better or for Worse, a show that will debut on TBS and is based on characters from Perry’s film Why Did I Get Married?

While Perry offered few details about the new show, a January casting notice reveals that the show will be a half-hour sitcom shot in Atlanta. Perry will executive-produce, write and direct; Ozzie Areu, Roger Bobb and Kim Fields will also reportedly share producing credits. The show will allegedly follow a group of college best friends as they deal with life’s issues: Carl and Leslie, a beautiful, happily married couple who want their friends to be as happy as they are; Brian, a TV sportscaster who has a volatile yet comedic relationship with his wife, Michelle, a hair salon owner; and Janice, a therapist married to a sharp, ambitious lawyer, Jordan, who’s trying to keep his secrets secret.

The New York Film Academy reported that Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, has already booked a regular role on the series, though no details were given about which character she’ll play.

Since Perry often rotates a number of actors and actresses in his works, there may be a few other familiar faces on this new show. This will be his third project for TBS following sitcoms House of Payne and Meet the Browns.
