Former supermodel Beverly Johnson will be joining Tyler Perry in the all-star cast for his next film, Good Deeds. The film is centered on the story of Glen Deeds (played by Perry), an affluent and highly successful entrepreneur who suddenly has a change of heart about his pending nuptials after meeting a down-on-her-luck single mother (played by Thandie Newton).
Johnson, who made history as the first black model to cover American Vogue in 1974 and the French edition of Elle in 1975, will star as the mother of Gabrielle Union’s character. Good Deeds will also feature For Colored Girls star, Phylicia Rashad, along with actors Brian White, Eddie Cibrian, Jamie Kennedy, and Rebecca Romijn.
Perry will write, produce and direct Good Deeds for Lionsgate under the banner of his production company, 34th Street Films.
Shooting for the romantic comedy begins this week in Atlanta.
