Basketball Hall of Famer vows to sport Speedos if Mavs lose

Published June 11, 2011

Basketball great and sports commentator Charles Barkley has always been known for his big personality on and off the court. As one of America’s most beloved ballers, the Hall of Famer has kept fans entertained during his 16-year NBA career and beyond. Seemingly unable to help himself, Chuck’s latest media laugh comes from a very strange bet made with Miami Herald columnist and personal friend Dan Le Batard the night the Mavericks won Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

If the Heat wins the series, the 48-year-old, 6’6” B-ball legend agreed to rock a Speedo during a Miami Herald interview. If Dallas wins, the columnist will wear them. Why Sir Charles would agree to such an embarrassment is a mystery but Miami better watch out if their team doesn’t win the next two hometown games.

In an NBA Finals series that's turning out to be one of the most exciting, the Mavericks currently lead the Heat 3-2. The Heat, however, play the next two games in Miami and have a chance to tie and usurp Dallas's lead.
