If up-and-coming actress Hayley Atwell is telling the truth, rapper Andre 3000’s next acting role will be the biggest of his acting career—playing rock legend Jimi Hendrix.

In an interview with Esquire, Atwell, who’s to star in the summer blockbuster Captain American, revealed that her next film may possibly be “a Jimi Hendrix biopic—an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing…Hendrix.”

That is definitely good news for Mr. 3000. According to the New York Daily News, the rapper-actor has been anxious to play the legendary guitarist since 2004, publicly voicing his desire in an interview with the paper. Unfortunately no calls for the part arrived.

In the past, actor Laurence Fishburne and rocker Lenny Kravitz have attempted to bring the musician's biopic to life over the years, but securing rights to the story has reportedly been a challenging process.

Will a picture get made this time? Even Atwell expressed some uncertainty about the possibilities. "I don't know, really," she said. "[My team] is like, 'Let's just wait and see.'"

Hendrix fans will definitely have their fingers crossed.
