Ladies: Pharrell Williams wants to get you tipsy. The music, fashion and website mogul is expanding his empire to include alcoholic beverages with the launch of Qream Liqueur, a line of flavored cream liqueurs targeting women.
“At first I was like, ‘I don’t know, I’m not much of a drinker,’ but then I was like, ‘Let me look at the market and see what’s out there,'" he told attendees at a Qream launch party in Los Angeles, which boasted celebrity guests such as Sanaa Lathan, Venus and Serena Williams and Rob Kardashian. "The hole that I saw was that the women were being ignored. The one thing that I wanted to bring back to the women in terms of the marketing is the idea of indulgence. I just thought ‘I want to design a drink that women are completely comfortable with.’”
In taste, design and calorie content, Williams kept his female customers in mind. “[The name is] inspired by the fact that it’s a cream liqueur but also the ‘Q’ is for queen. You don’t have to drink it and think to yourself, ‘OK, in the morning I’m going to have to sacrifice and do another hour on the treadmill.’ It’s less calories than a glass of wine.”
Ladies know: there's nothing sexier than a man who understands our needs, and we're grateful to Pharrell for helping us get our drink on without busting our wallets or our waistlines. Now we're just hoping we'll run into him at the bar and he'll offer to buy us one.
