Last night, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon ushered their twin babies to the public eye for the first time. The couple, who celebrated their third anniversary last spring, sat down with Barbara Walters and ABC’s 20/20 at their New York penthouse to discuss marriage and parenting—and to show off their six-month-old bundles of joy, Moroccan and Monroe.

During the interview, Carey spoke about her difficult pregnancy. “I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to walk properly again. It was a huge strain,” said Mariah. “I would sit and then someone would need to help me up. I couldn’t go even to the loo by myself.”

Mariah had to take hormones to help her get pregnant and to lower the risk of having another miscarriage, as she did three years ago. “The main thing I did that was tough, was to go on progesterone like every month… and then when I was pregnant, I had to stay with the progesterone for 10 weeks,” she told Walters. “It minimizes the chance of miscarriage by 50 percent.”

The couple also revealed that Nick played a live version of Mariah’s hit “Fantasy” in the delivery room during her labor. “They came into the world to a live version," she said. "The only reason I wanted it to be the live version is ’cause I wanted them to hear the applause upon entering the world,”

Nick said he hoped the children, nicknamed Roc and Roe, don’t pursue a career in showbiz—but they’re already showing musical inclinations. “I will say that they really respond to music,” Mariah said.

“But I want to make sure that [they] get education first, that’s all,” Nick replied.
