Eddie Murphy Speaks On Hosting the Oscars

The legendary funnyman says he may curse on stage.

Back in the day, Eddie Murphy was notorious for his potty mouth and tight leather pants, as showcased in his hit comedy documentary shows, Delirious (1983) and Raw (1987).

Today, as the impending host of the 2012 Academy Awards, Murphy sat down with funnywoman Ellen DeGeneres and talked about self-censorship and possibly returning to Saturday Night Live.

DeGeneres jokes that there will be more than a ten-second delay on Murphy because she's sure he’s going to curse.

Murphy replies, “Well, I don’t plan on cursing, you know, when I get to the Oscars I’m gonna say [bleep] … Every now and then a curse may slip out.”

He also says he would return to his roots on SNL, “if it was the right stunt.”

Murphy will host the Academy Awards Feb. 26, 2012.
