Brett Ratner is learning the hard way that we can't all be as charmingly outspoken as Eddie Murphy. The Tower Heist director has come under fire for the second time this week, this time for telling a reporter who asked if he rehearsed his cast before a scene, "rehearsals are for f-gs." Previously, Ratner lied about sleeping with actress Olivia Munn.
Realizing that controversial words are dangerous without Murphy's comedic wit to back them up, Ratner quickly issued a mea culpa. “I apologize for any offense my remarks caused. It was a dumb way of expressing myself," the director said. "Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words.”
Hopefully he'll be more careful when he teams up with Murphy to produce this year's Academy Awards telecast.
