Angela Bassett has played plenty of tough chicks in her career, but nothing has prepared her for having to protect the leader of the free world.

In the upcoming film Olympus Has Fallen, Bassett plays the director of the Secret Service, who is put to the test when the President (Aaron Eckhart) is kidnapped and Washington falls under seige.

Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) says he couldn't have imagined any other actress playing the role. "She has that strength and intelligence to pull this off," he says of the feats Bassett's character must endure to bring her boss back to safety. "When she speaks, it has weight," he adds.

Morgan Freeman plays the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the film, and the man tapped to take control of the White House while the President and Vice President are indisposed. The film also stars Gerard Butler as a sniper who tries to rescue the President under Bassett's supervision.

To see clips from the action thriller and hear Bassett and Fuqua talk about the groundbreaking action sequences and set pieces in the film, watch our exclusive featurette below.

Olympus Has Fallen hits theaters on March 22.
