Wendy Williams Gets Ratings Boost in New Season

The talk show host is hotter than ever on TV.

Published October 24, 2013

The temperature is dropping in New York City, but Wendy Williams is scorching hot. The talk show queen started off the new season of The Wendy Williams Show with a huge leap in ratings. The show is now the most popular talk show among women in New York, and nationwide the outspoken diva has seen a 25% jump in viewership since last October.

While a host of new talk shows — from Arsenio Hall's to Queen Latifah's — are competing for attention, Williams' is mopping the floor with her competition. The Wendy Williams Show is the favorite among both younger and middle-aged women, both key demographics for advertisers.

Williams' straight talk approach and popular segments like her "Hot Topics" have made the show an improbable hit across all ethnic groups. And her controversial opinions, while perhaps making her a few enemies among celebrities, are certainly not costing her any viewers. She recently made headlines for vowing to "eat crow" if newly engaged couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West actually make it down the aisle.

We'll see if Williams will have to eat her words (and more) soon enough. TMZ reports that Kanye West does not want a long engagement and is in a "hurry" to marry. One thing's clear: America is loving Wendy!

The Wendy Williams Show airs every weeknight at 12A/11C on BET.
