Shonda Rhimes has already conquered the small screen, and now she's ready to make her mark in print. The Scandal creator, who also has prime-time hits Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice to her name, has inked a book deal with Simon & Schuster to write her memoirs.
The book will trace Rhimes' decision (prior to coming to Hollywood) to build a family and the challenges of being a single mother while striving for professional success. Publication is scheduled for 2015. It is described by the publisher as "part memoir, part inspiration, part prescription."
Says Rhimes, "I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother, and as a working mother, and as a sleepless mother, and as a dating mother. And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I'm going to write about that and hope my kids don't use it against me in therapy later." She also joked, "Simon & Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal, as I am clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom.”
We're sure her fans and admirers beg to differ!
