Looks like some of the frost that hit the East Coast made its way into the weekend box office. Frozen, Disney's animated family film, made a surprise appearance in first place this weekend, climbing back to the top spot after spending several weeks at number two. The film, which opened on Thanksgiving Day, has grossed $640 million to date.
The film easily surpassed Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which still did good business with $18.2 million. The horror flick was followed by The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle, in that order.
In other news, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues crossed the $100 million mark while last week's flops Grudge Match, 47 Ronin and Justin Bieber's documentary Believe continued to nosedive.
Next week sees the release of awards contenders Her and August: Osage County along with Mark Wahlberg's Lone Survivor.
