Chelsea Handler Not a Racist, Dates "a Lot of Black People"

The comedienne faces backlash over seemingly racist tweets.

Chelsea Handler is no stranger to crossing lines, but the comedienne and late night talk show host may have gone too far with tweets she posted on Oscar night. During her takeover of The Huffington Post's Twitter account during the Academy Awards, Handler used 12 Years a Slave's Oscar wins to promote her book of travel essays, Uganda Be Kidding Me. She also made a distasteful joke about Best Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong'o: "Angelina Jolie just filed adoption papers."

Appearing on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Handler was dismissive, not apologetic. "People are mad at me all the time," Handler said. "If I was worried about that then I would be spending a lot of time online. I'd rather be a little bit more productive."

She added, "I'm not racist. I date a lot of Black people so that would be a difficult thing to explain to them." is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
