Disorder in the court! Former TV magistrate Judge Joe Brown got a taste of his own medicine when he was arrested and jailed in Memphis, Tennessee, on Monday, on a contempt of court charge.

The longtime TV personality was sentenced by a juvenile court magistrate to five days in jail after a heated argument that took place in the courtroom, CNN reports. Another judge, who witnessed the argument, said Brown "challenged the authority" of the presiding judge and got "pretty raucous" during his appearance. TMZ reports that Brown became verbally abusive, even after being warned to calm down several times.

Chief Magistrate Dan Michael, who witnessed the courtroom showdown, told CNN the judges and staff "were all kind of floored" by Brown's tirade. The former TV personality was in court Monday to represent a client in a child support case, but expressed disdain after he was told the case would not be addressed that afternoon.

Brown was held in contempt five times "before they were able to get him out of the courtroom," Michael told CNN. The famous judge was then booked in Memphis's Shelby County jail. The irony doesn't stop there: Brown is a former Shelby County criminal judge and is currently running for District Attorney of the area.

Brown hosted his reality court TV show, Judge Joe Brown, for 15 years. The syndicated show was canceled last year.
